Joe Dell on the passing of legendary pink floyd keyboardist Rick Wright

On the announcement of the passing of legendary Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, Joe Dell has been deeply saddened. Wright was Joe's mentor and favorite keyboardist in his teen years. Here are his feelings: Joe Dell , " What a truly tragic loss. I don't believe there is a keyboard player in rock that hasn't been influenced by Rick in one way or another. He, along with Ray Manzerik, brought the keyboards to the forefront in rock n roll. I loved Pink Floyd ever since I was young. Big Al turned me on to them back in 1986. To me the sound of the band was the keyboards. Even in the early days, Rick was the most musical of the band. He played leads while Syd experimented with sounds. He opened the doors for so many people. He knew how to play with feel. He never wasted a note and never played to show off. He was class all the way. When I was in my mid teens, I had my father buy me an organ for a Christmas gift and the first song I ever learned on it was "Summer of '68". He was also the warmest when it came to the fans. He appreciated us more than any other member in the band. We missed Floyd on the Delicate Sound of Thunder but were blessed enough to catch them 2 nights in a row for the Division Bell tour. He was one of the greatest and will be truly missed. God bless his soul."
