Unfortunately, our preferred webstore (CDBaby.com) has shut down as of April, 2020.   Many of our albums are still carried by music distributors, but the poor search engines of large online retailers (e.g. Amazon) may make them hard to find.  (If you do find them, try using Amazon marketplace or ebay - Amazon.com's warehouse rarely pays us for albums sold directly through them).  Please contact us (matt@sleepyhollowband.com) if you're having trouble finding a recording of ours - we have stock of most of our albums.

Matt Schwarz - The Lost Way

MATT SCHWARZ: The Lost Way

1 - Robin Hood & Little John (trad.) - 7:20 2 - The Faerie Queene (Schwarz) - 5:10 3 - The Woode So Wylde (Schwarz) - 2:19 4 - Lord Lovell (trad.) - 4:22 5 - Scarborough Faire (trad.) - 3:33 6 - I Long To Feel A Gentle Breeze (Schwarz) - 2:18 7 - Seasons (Schwarz) - 2:35 8 - Little Katie (trad.) - 5:22 9 - The Lost Way (Schwarz) - 2:16 10 - To The Distant Beloved (Schwarz) - 3:56 11 - Farewell and Fare-thee-well (Schwarz) - 3:40 . . . . . . . . . . Personnel: Matt Schwarz - vocals, acoustic guitar, flute, mandolin, Celtic harp, lap dulcimer; with special guests: Bonnie Filipak - vocals; Steve Klem - mandolin; Todd Lanka - cello and bass violin . . . . . . . . . . An all-acoustic foray into folk and traditional music. The musical influences are Renaissance, Celtic, and the late-60's/early-70's British folky side of bands like Jethro Tull, the Strawbs, Fairport Convention, and Pentangle. The lyrics often bear the marks of British folklore or 19th century poetry (the fan-favorite title track was influenced by Lord Dunsany's "King of Elfland's Daughter"). The traditional songs tend to be fully arranged (e.g., the ancient Scandinavian ballad "Little Katie" features harmony flutes, harp, cello, and male & female vocals), whereas the originals are usually guitar/vocal with a touch of flute or mandolin. "The Woode So Wylde" is a medieval-sounding, fingerstyle acoustic guitar solo and "Farewell & Fare-thee-well" is a Celtic flute solo written in memory of Matt's grandfather.
