The Factory Life (a brand new short story by Joe Dell) - March 1, 2015

The Factory Life

“Hi Daddy!!!!” both Andy and Jimmy said in unison.

“Hey kids” Alex responded as he walked through the front door of his Lincoln, Nebraska home, which had cathedral ceilings and a two-car garage.

“Hey Hun, you know, this is what makes it all worthwhile.” He stated as he pulled away from his wife, Jennifer, after he had just had given her a kiss on the lips.

Alex, a middle aged jet engine mechanic, had been referring to the move. The big move that is. Alex and Jennifer had made a move from Chicago, Illinois to Lincoln, Nebraska to start a new life. The two had been contemplating their move, seeing Lincoln was a lot different than Chicago. The Windy City was where their families lived and were deeply missed as well. Jennifer came from an Italian family and Alex a Greek family. Both were very humble. Alex’s father worked two jobs until he was able to afford the down payment on his diner and Jen’s father was a retired ball player. He was a backup catcher for the New York Yankees. His name is Joe “Yogi” Puccini. Never heard of him? That’s because he never spent one second on the ball field, but, he did manage to save up enough money to buy an Italian Deli in Chicago that stood right next door to the Eat ‘n’ Greet Diner owned by Alex’s parents. Yes, this is how they met. Jen would work at the deli after school and Alex was a delivery boy at the diner. Alex, who was fond of Jennifer, would pop in for a gourmet sandwich time and time again. This would infuriate Alex’s father who would say, “You go to deli and spend money when you could eat here for free….stupid!”

After some time, Alex would end up asking Jen out on a date, where he would take her to see Pulp Fiction. That particular movie would end up on their rack of DVDs and make its appearance on every January 19th to commemorate the first time they had kissed.

By 1996, the two had gotten married, and all the guests were treated to the best array of food the Mediterranean had to offer. The families became very close and one day they were given the bad news that the beloved couple was moving to Lincoln. This was due to the fact that Alex had landed a good job at Lincoln Airport fixing engines on high priced personal jets for the world’s elite. Good pay, good benefits, great company; he couldn’t say no.

The move was made in the summer of 2001. Jennifer’s older brother Giuseppe helped them move down there. He understood the move and the reasons but, he was never happy with the fact they moved to a city with no good Italian food.

By 2007, they had saved up enough money to put a deposit on the house they live in and decided it was time to start a family. By November, they had their first son, Jimmy and in 2010 they had their second child, Andy. Both of which were healthy and happy kids.

Alex couldn’t be happier; he had a nice home, a loving family and a good job. It was beginning to carry some weight on his shoulders; the job that is. At the age of 42, climbing into those giant engines and using the tools he did; tools that are large, heavy and made from solid metal. Also, the cold winters were starting to wear him down, but, it was all worthwhile to see his family happy. He was finally living the American Dream!

“So, how was your day at work sweetheart?” Jen questioned her oil stained, sweaty husband.

“Good, Tommy, you know, the old timer I was telling you about, he is leaving the company in 2 weeks. He actually won the lottery.”

“You’re kidding! Good for him! His wife and kids are very nice people.”

“Kids? That’s funny, Jen…they are older than us.”

“I know, but they will always be Tommy and Karen’s kids to them”

“Yeah, but, I’ll tell ya’. Billy…”

“What about Billy? The short guy, blonde hair, slightly cross-eyed Billy? Right?” Jennifer questioned.

“Yeah, yeah….Billy…works in hanger 4”

“Good worker you said, the only one you think is smarter than you.”

“No one there is smarter than me…just kidding…but, yeah, him. It was a bit odd.”

“What was odd?”

“He was working on a jet that was due to be completed today and…well…it was…but after it was finished, Billy was nowhere to be found.”

“Maybe he left early.”

“That’s what I thought, I mean, well…he always does a good job. That’s why all of Jim’s high end clients request him.”

“They always ask for you, if he isn’t available.”

“I know, and yeah, but, he does have 3 years on me in the field and to be honest, that little guy can squeeze in places and move around a lot faster than I can. We both get the job done, but, he beats me on the clock. But, that’s not the point. He disappeared and never let anyone know where he went.”

“That’s odd, but, I am sure you will see him tomorrow.”

“Yeah, you’re right. What’s for dinner?”

“Manicots and meatballs. Oh, and I got some Feta for the salad.”

“Get out! You found Feta?”

“Yeah, a local mart started to sell ethnic cheeses…well…outside of Swiss.”

“Great, ok, I’m gonna’ jump in the shower, then we’ll eat. What are we watching tonight?”

“I was thinking King of Queens and then we’ll wind down with a little Columbo.”

“Ok…”

The next day, Alex dropped Jimmy and Andy off at the local grammar school where they hugged their father tightly, kissed him on the cheek and ran towards the schoolyard where several of their classmates were having a good time playing kickball.

Though Alex loved to watch his boys, he was slightly distracted by the thought of Billy and his early departure.

Alex arrived at the airport soon after where he parted his powder blue 442 in the 5th parking space on the north side of the lot and made his way towards the glass sliding door with (Aviation # Won) printed on the front in tilted red lettering. As he walked in and slid his ID card through the scanner to the left, a pretty, fair skinned blonde with blue eyes and beauty mark above her left dimple, smiled and greeted him.

“Good morning Alex, how are you today?”

“Good Sherry, how are you doin’?”

“Very good Alex, how are the kids?”

“You mean my 2 reasons for homeowner’s insurance?”

(laughter)

“Yes, Jimmy and Andy you kidder.”

“Good, just dropped them off at school.”

“Glad to hear it.”

“Thanks…Hey Sherry, Billy in yet?”

“No, no one has seen him and his wife called last night, supposedly and asked about him.”

“Oh, ok, Billy likes his drinks after work, maybe he’s at the end of a push broom over at Callahan’s”

(laughter)

“Possible, have a good day Alex.”

“Yeah, you too.”

Alex made his way into hanger 7 where a Convair 880 was awaiting his arrival.

“Alex!”

“Yeah Kenny?” Alex questioned his boss.

“You seen Billy?”

“No…no I haven’t.”

“Ok, let him know I’m wanna see him when he gets in.”

“Ok, no problem Ken.”

Alex pulled out the 5th drawer on his cherry red Montezuma toolbox as he looked for his borescope. He couldn’t help but wonder what happened to his co-worker and friend, Bill Redson. Alex and Bill had many a night after work either at a poker game or Callahan’s for a cold brew and double cheddar burger.

2 days went by and there was no word from Billy. His wife, Loraine was extremely worried and contacted the local authorities. At first, Kenny was planning to put Billy on the street for 3 days, but, he too was starting to get concerned over the absence of Billy Redson. The Lincoln Police Dept. had 27 of their men scour the airport for Billy but to avail.

It was now Saturday afternoon and it was 78 degrees with a moderate amount of clouds. Alex was in his back yard, where his two sons were dressed in their swim trunks, throwing around a Nerf football as they anxiously waited for their father to complete inflating their blue, 2 foot deep pool with dolphin print.

Once Alex was finished inflating the pool, he walked over to the side of the house and unraveled the dark green hose and carried the end over to the pool and yelled, “Jimmy, turn the faucet for your father, so I can fill the pool.”

Jimmy ran over excitedly and turned the knob, releasing a strong flow of water through the 24-foot garden hose and into the wading pool.

As Alex was pressing his thumb across the opening on the hose; squirting both Jimmy and Andy.

THUD!!!!

“Daddy, look, I think that’s your friend Billy.” Andy stated as he pointed towards the right side of their home where a disheveled man lay face down.

“Boys! Go upstairs to your mother!” Alex commanded as he ran towards the broken man who used every ounce of energy he had left to look up to his ensuing host.

“Billy, it is you…what the hell happened?”

“Al….(gurgling)…Alex.” Thump.

Alex flipped Billy over and put his arms under his lifeless body. Then lifted him into the air and carried his friend through the sliding glass door that leads into the basement where he laid him on the off grey leather sofa.

“Jen! Bring me down some water, or Gatorade or something!”

“Daddy, what’s going on?”

“Mind your business Jimmy! Go upstairs and play with your brother!”

“But I wanna’ play in the po…”

“Listen to me now or spend a week in your room!”

Jimmy ran back upstairs as Jen brought down a dark blue plastic cup with condensation dripping down the side and a soft white napkin with various fruit prints underneath.

“Holy Cow! What happened to him?”

“I don’t know, here, give me that…go upstairs and watch the kids.”

Jen ran back upstairs leaving the two alone in the basement.

Alex lifted Billy’s head and gently poured the cold, orange liquid into his mouth.

(Choking)

“Uh, uh, what’s….”

“Gatorade, here, drink slowly.” Alex suggested as he held Billy’s head up while he poured more of the liquid into his mouth.

“Oh….oh…that’s good…thank you Al.”

“No problem, what happened? You look like you were run over by a garbage truck…twice!”

“You’re not human! You’re not alive! I’m not! Annunaki! The flood! People died…we are slaves…”

“I’m calling an ambulance…you’re not right.”

“NO! Please! No!” Billy pleaded as he slowly faded into sleep.

The next day, when Alex and his family awoke, Jen got herself and the kids ready for church while Alex prepared a scrambled egg breakfast with bacon and home fries along with an English muffin and fresh brewed coffee for his guest and himself.

“Ok, Jen, take the kids to church and keep them out of the cellar when they get back.”

“Ok…but what happened to…”

“That’s what I plan on finding out.”

After Jennifer left for church with the kids, Alex brought the home cooked breakfast downstairs to his recovering guest.

“Here ya go bro’”

“Thank you Alex, sincerely, Thanks.” Billy said in a low, raspy, monotone voice.

“No prob…that’s what bros are for.”

After Billy ate his morning meal, Alex started to question his guest.

“Does Loraine know you are…”

“No! no…” Billy interrupted “No, leave her out of this!”

“Out of what? What are you talking about? You were talking all this conspiracy nonsense last night. You were halluci…”

Just then Billy dropped his cup of lukewarm coffee onto the concrete floor as he grabbed Alex’s left wrist tightly and looked him directly in the eyes and stated with a serious tone, “No! I saw everything! As real as day, as real as you and I are here!”

“Saw what?” Alex questioned with an air of nervousness.

“Al, it was like nothing I’d seen before in real life…ya know, maybe in a movie. I still think I’m fucking dreaming.”

“Bill, how? It doesn’t make sense.”

“It will; I was working on that Falcon, you know, with the rich Egyptian owner.”

“Yeah, go on.”

“Well, I got finished early and figured I had some time, so, I went into my boot and celebrated my victory.”

“Uh oh.”

“Yeah, and I ended up passing out on the jet. I was laid out on that elevated bed they have in there.”

“How’d no one see you?”

“I have no idea. The Jack kicked in hard and I passed out with a brown blanket over me. It was freezing in there! Anyway, I came to and the jet was moving, so I thought it best that I just stay under the cover. I mean, I was like royally fucked! I don’t think they would be too happy havin’ to fly me back to Lincoln from where ever they were landing.”

“Ok, go on, where’d they land?”

“That’s it! I don’t really know. We landed in this green, grassy field, in the middle of nowhere. Once the jet was stopped, all of a sudden, it started to sink.”

“Quicksand?”

“No! No…not at all. I peeked from under the blanket and I saw us sinking into the Earth! …and then I saw layers of sediment and then this bright light beamed through the windows after we passed through what seemed to be a mile and a half or rock. It was a brilliant light. Then the jet stopped moving and the airstair let down and Mr. Rahmad left along with his body guards and then his pilots. So, I was left in there by myself. I didn’t know what to do; I knew I was screwed. So, I undressed and went into the closet and removed a dark grey suit that I found in there with matching shoes. They were a little tight on me, but, I squeezed in.”

“That was smart. I hope you ditched the jump suit.”

“No, I left it in the bed. Then I looked around and got off the plane quickly before it was taxied into some sort of hanger, but, it ain’t like no hanger I ever saw. It was like out of some super hero movie.”

“Yeah, then what? Ya gotta make this quick, Jen’ll be home with the boys eventually and I don’t want her or the kids hearing any of this.”

“I know, I know…please, just listen. When I got out, all I saw were these giants. I mean, the NY Knicks wish they had five of these walking trees. They all were dressed in these robes, and were jacked like Arnold. It was sick…”

“What were the chicks like?”

“There weren’t any! I mean, you couldn’t even tell a gender. It was like they were men and women in one. They all had long hair and were like a mix of all the races. You couldn’t tell them much apart. It was crazy Alex.” Billy stated while wiping beads of sweat off of his forehead and cheeks with the napkin that accompanied his morning meal.

“Where the hell were you?”

“Oh Alex, Alex Alex Alex…this is where it gets good. I made my way off of this pad that was filled with the most expensive jets money could buy and into a building…and when I say building, it wasn’t like any building I saw; Frank Lloyd Wright would’ve shit himself. These buildings were made from some kind of shiny metal that looked like that new high end metallic shiny paint they use on cars or like one of those Christmas bulbs. The windows looked thin and clear, like it wasn’t even there. Each building was round, you know, curved, no sides or corners.”

Alex sat in awe as Billy continued his story.

“But, there aren’t any vehicles. They are all on foot, but, not just on foot! They levitate and fly!”

“Like a bird?”

“No! like…I don’t know, remember the second Superman, Zod and them. That’s sorta how they moved! But, with no effort. Except for when they came in from another sector; they turned black when they moved fast.”

“Black, like African black?”

“No, they became these black holes, or clouds, or both! I mean, Alex, they turn into these small black holes, like an empty void. I mean, there was this dark feeling there. Pure Evil Alex. There were some people our size there, but, they seemed to be under the rule or something of these giants. From what I could tell, it was like these giants gave people like Mr. Rahmad these jets and other objects of wealth.”

“Ok”

“So, I made it into this one building that looked like the Michelin Man without a head or limbs; Ivory white building. For some reason, no one even questioned my existence there. The giants didn’t talk by moving their lips. They talked to you in your mind. It was nuts. I thought I was still drunk, passed out somewhere. But, it was real!”

“I think you’re still drunk Bill”

“I’m not, I know what I saw. I went into this elevator of sorts, which was for people like us. There was another, larger shaft that was made of glass where the giants would levitate in and walk out to the floor level they needed to be at. But, I just got out at the 1st floor and Alex; it was a large array of the most complex computer system you could ever imagine. It is fucked up! I think they are connected to all those cameras you see on those traffic lights and stores and through household devices. It was incredible! There was a giant at each computer and I walked by and saw what they were doing! They controlled people! It was sick. They did it through their minds! I saw one of the giants who had to stand 10-feet tall if he was an inch, working one of these computers. He was looking into a household; it looked like the picture was coming from off of a kitchen table or something. It was this family, a white family, the wife, who I’m guessing she was, was very pretty, blonde hair, blue or green eyes, couldn’t get a good look and the husband was blonde haired too. He walked in and his wife kissed him. Then I felt that particular giant think something of the fact about perfume. Then all of a sudden, she pulled away and yelled at her husband, saying something about smelling perfume on him. Then this fight broke out. As soon as the fight ensued, the picture changed and it was this poor black couple and they were in their living room. It looked as though we were looking at them through their television screen. As quick as a wink, the man stood up and demanded that the woman give him money. She looked at him and questioned him. He struck her across the cheek and demanded money. I felt the giant thinking again and this time it was something about missing that high, you need that high. He grabbed her purse off of the coffee table and left the room with a handful of money. At that point, one of the giants walked through the corridor and I felt him say to or communicate to or whatever to the giant I was standing behind. He commented on how that seemed a bit extreme and the other just responded with something like who cares, they are only robots, we are the living. They are just our slaves. I was so scared! I tried not to show it though. I went back into the elevator and wanted to see what was at the top floor. You know, I just felt at the time, we probably learned or obtained the same way of thinking from these things! As I walked back, all I saw were all these random acts of violence and such on these screens.”

“You know Bill, if I didn’t know you, I would be laughing now.”

“Al, I know, there is a reason why I am here! Alex, I made it back into the elevator and then I took it to the top floor. There weren’t numbers on the buttons, just these symbols. When I got there, there were different computers. No one was there. It was amazing. These computers didn’t have buttons. There was a screen and this clear, see-through, dark red panel beneath it. I ran my hand across it and the screen shined a bright green light. I heard a voice say something. All I thought was, I would love to know who the hell these giants were. Then no sooner did I think that. I saw these visions on the screen. It was those things. There were millions of them on what appeared to be the surface of the Earth. They were in gardens and green pastures and all. They were living and eating. Then I saw this comet or meteorite or something hit the earth and this dark grey debris covered the sky and fires burning down buildings and trees. Then I saw a room where some of them were on a computer of sorts and they seemed to be controlling the weather. They were making it rain, to clean up the debris and put out these giant fires across the land. Then I felt the computer say something to me in English about how now the land was contaminated and they could no longer live above ground. That they needed to create this underground shelter; that they could no longer exist in the atmosphere above. But, they need to grow food to eat, but it was impossible without sunlight. So, they created robots in their own likeness. That men, such as myself, were created by them. That they manufactured these beings that were capable of recreating themselves, once they were above ground and given the drive to reproduce. That we were guided by them through our minds and that they lead us down the paths we needed to go. That we increased in number as they did. So we could produce what they needed.”

“Sounds like pure science fiction Bill.”

“Alex! Don’t you get it? Don’t you see? They are the giants that are in the hieroglyphs! They are the giants in the Roman and Greek Statues. They have been here all along. They created us as slaves! We produce food and they take the best! All the gifts to the gods were to them. Think about it, why do you think we die? If we were truly made in God’s image, we would live forever. We aren’t! They are! They built us good enough to heal, they put things in us to recreate what has been destroyed what’s still repairable. When they need more of us to survive; they taught us how to do surgery. They increase our knowledge as it suits them. Don’t you think it’s funny how we went from horseback to the moon in 70 years? After thousands of years on horseback? I got more info from that computer. Remember that Roswell thing?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, that was one of their ships! They would come above ground to monitor us. Then one crashed! They made their people…yes, the ones of us who are in contact with them and work hand in hand with them, put out some phony report about a weather balloon, and people didn’t buy it. So, they thought it wise to give us the technology to build spaceships soon after so people would then blame the government for these flying saucers and take the heat off of them. Then they created this whole grey alien story. They look just like us, but fucking huge!” Billy exclaimed as bubbling saliva shot out of his dry mouth and over his chapped lips.

“Bill, are you sure you didn’t just dream this?”

“No, well, I am 99% sure! You can never be 100%. But, from what I got, they need to see us to control us. This is why everything has a camera on it now…or a screen. Also, they become solid once they stop moving, so, they can only turn into these black clouds while they move fast. It all makes sense. This is why our brains can’t conceive a ‘no beginning’ scenario. This is why our brains can’t make up anything that we never saw or learned about. Go ahead Al, try to think of a monster…do it.”

“Ok, what did you create?”

“A hairy, blue monster with fangs and…my god! You’re right! I can’t!”

“Exactly Al! You can’t! All we know was programmed in us and taught to us. We aren’t creators…we never created a thing. They are the REAL humans! They were made in God’s image! They are like spirits and humans. I found out they created us in different colors to code our talents and gifts. They gave us different religions to confuse us, so we never find out the truth about our existence! So we continue to fight. They control us with sound frequencies. Music, why do we enjoy music? It doesn’t make any scientific sense. They want us to work together, melodic music is in, they want us fighting, then dissident music is in and so forth. They also control us through TV, monkey see monkey do, get it? Here is the worst part. In 20 years, the atmosphere will be clean enough again for them to exist in. At that point, they are planning on destroying most of us and keeping the best to be their slaves. Al I can…”

(Banging heard upstairs)

“Shhhh! Jen and the kids are home!”

Soon after, Alex talked Bill into going home to his wife. Alex spent the rest of the weekend thinking about what he was told. Questions flooded his mind.

Monday morning had arrived and Alex dropped his kids off at school and then went to work as always, but, with a different outlook. He went into work and greeted the girls at the desk as usual, but, he noticed how they were robotic, how, they greeted him the same way every morning. He began to realize how routine ruled the world. He started to think how only a few stood out and that they were these giants’ chosen ones. He couldn’t help think about it.

Alex made his way into the hanger which held the Boeing he would be working on this particular day. As he fumbled through his tool box, Ken walked in and put his left hand on Alex’s right shoulder and spoke in a somber voice.

“Alex, I’m sorry…”

“Hey Ken, what’s up?”

“Billy”

“Yeah, what about Billy?” Alex questioned with a spike of curiosity, knowing what he had been through the week before.

“He’s dead…”

“Dead?!”

“Yes, dead.”

“How?”

“Nancy got a bit worried about the storm that hit Sunday night, so she went down to the storm cellar to make sure there was food available, you know, just in case…and…well…she found Billy down there, hanging from a rope.”

“Jesus!”

“I know, that’s where he was all along. Sad, you never would have known that he was suffering from depression, he was such a jovial worker.”

“Yeah, sad.” Alex said while keeping his composure.

Alex, along with Jen, attended Billy’s wake and funeral, where Alex was one of the Pallbearers.

Several weeks would pass, until one day at work:

“Alex!”

“Uh, hi Mr. Rahmad.”

“Alex, I am so sorry about the passing of your friend, but, I will still have the best mechanic working on my jet.”

“Thank you Mr. Rahmad.”

Alex couldn’t help but wonder about this fantasy land his friend Billy created in his mind. He knew Billy and how Billy would joke around, and make up farfetched stories. But, he never pulled off such an elaborate tale like the one he told him the day he died. Alex wanted to find out about this underworld. He needed to know the truth. He was the only person Billy saw; the only person to hear about his story. He also was extremely disturbed about the fact that he had hung himself. He knew he was far from suicidal.

By the next week, a Friday to be specific, Alex had completed the work on Mr. Rahmad’s jet airplane and he had a plan. He went into Ken’s office and informed him that the jet was ready for takeoff. Ken called the local Hilton and informed his customer that his plane was ready for pick up.

Alex went back to the jet and climbed into the fuselage and dug through the closet that stood on the left side of the elevated bed. He knew the clothes were too small for him, but, he was lucky enough to find a black suit that obviously belonged to one of Mr. Rahmad’s body guards. He put on the suit and hid within the closet in the hopes he would not get caught.

About an hour later, the passengers boarded the plane and they took off. He figured the flight was about an hour and a half. So, they must have been somewhere in America. The plane landed and then he felt the sinking feeling that Billy had described to him.

Once the jet stopped moving he heard the passengers leave the jet along with its minimal crew. Once the coast was clear, Alex left the plane.

As he climbed down, he looked up in amazement of what he saw. It was a whole metropolis of giant, orb like buildings that shined in some kind of synthetic light source that radiated from the top of the underground world. He, like his fallen friend, moved around unnoticed. He saw the ivory white structure that Billy had described. Feeling as if he had already been in that particular building, he decided to explore other buildings. It was amazing to him. There were malls, food stores, all sorts of things you would find in the surface world. But, it was mysterious. No writing like he had ever seen. The giants that walked around towered over him. His 6’4” frame was over shadowed by the population which inhabited the underworld.

Finally, he had made it to the end of a…well…what we would consider a block, but, it wasn’t a block, they were giant circles. There was a building that appeared to be a place of worship. In front was a statue of what appeared to be the most beautiful of all the giants in the community. Alex slowly passed the 40-foot, golden statue that seemed to enervate several messages in some strange language. Alex’s head began to hurt from all the conversations that were going on in the vicinity.

As he walked up the marble staircase that led up into the giant, multicolored orb, he couldn’t help but notice what was erected on top of the center spire. He didn’t understand why that symbol was the only symbol he recognized from the upper world, and he knew what it meant there and assumed it may mean the same thing down there. Reaching for the gold, serpent laden handle, which was attached to the circular door, he pulled it open and entered the foyer. He looked down into a small pool, which contained a crimson liquid. He passed through a second set of doors. He walked in and was taken aback by what he saw. There were three figures, three large statues in the back. He recognized those images as well. Feeling nauseous, he continued to walk into the main room where strange synthetic tones seemed to pulse through. Tears filled his eyes as reality started to set in. Alex fell to his knees in tears.

“Oh my God…Oh! MY God! Billy…oh…Billy…you were wrong! YOU WERE WRONG! WE are NOT robots! We ARE Humans! These are NOT what you thought they were! This place…THIS PLACE! IT IS…AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Sleepy Hollow pays homage to Leonard Nimoy 3/26/31 to 2/27/15 - February 27, 2015

Sleepy Hollow would like to take this time to remember the great Leonard Nimoy who dies earlier today and express their deepest sympathies and extend their prayers to his family and loved ones. Joe Dell wrote For the World is Hollow (and I have touched the sky) back in 2001, which was based around an old Star Trek episode. We caught up with Joe to get his words.

Joe, "What a loss. It would have been great if he would be in the next Star Trek movie. I mean, what can you say, he lived a good life and left us with so much. I was one of the first people to own all the Star Trek episodes on dvd back in the 90's. People forget all he did, I mean he was on everything from Twilight Zone to Columbo. Sleepy Hollow Band reunion of 1st line-up very possible! - February 19, 2015

Word is out that Joe, Frank, Dan & Mole have been talking and peacefully. After 15 years since the release of their groundbreaking EP, it is time for a proper tour celebrating their achievements. The breakdown after the release of Goin' Over was Legendary and as Mole and Joe put the pieces together and gave the world The Lazarus Project and Legend. Both were hailed by metal and prog critics alike.

Now, all four members are ready to go on the road and bring their music to the world who has been waiting, thousands of fans who never got the chance to see the original line-up.

In the past years, Dan was on tour as bassist for L.A. Guns and Twisted Sister to name a few, Mole has been working with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Joe wrote his groundbreaking book Goin' Over and Frank has been headlining gigs with his solo band Frankie Goes to Englewood.

We wanted to get some words from the guys:

Joe, "Well, we actually had a three way last night....on the phone you naughty lot....and we buried the hatchet with one another and well, there was a genuine good feeling, bringing back some old memories, all good ones. We want to do it again, and right this time, we are more peaceful, mature and learned from our mistakes."

Dan, "Oh, it was great, loved hearing from the guys. Missed them. I am definitely looking forward to working with them. The best music I had ever made was with the Sleepy Hollow Band for sure. It was the Beatles to Metallica rolled into one."

Frank, "Well, yeah, I mean, what can you say? I am a bit rusty on the drums, you know, being a lead singer for 10 years. But, I am sure the guys will get me back in shape pretty quick. I think we can be the new version of Pink Floyd once we get out there with our stage show, oh, and the music too!"

Mole, (chewing) "I wasn't privy to the conversation, but, the lads did leave me a lovely voice mail and it was magnificent hearing all those voices again. It's been a long time and we all have changed...for the better I believe. I mean, Joseph wrote himself a book, and a fine one at that. Dan toured with some decent names, and Frank has built his own personal following. I, myself have arranged music for an orchestra. So, yeah, I can't wait to get back in the rehearsal room with the lads. I know, both, the music and our vocals will the best they ever have been, oh, and the stage show as well."

We will give you more news as it develops.....
